Hey Everyone,

I'm starting another International Pop Overthrow Presents series of
showcases on the second Saturday of each month at Fais Do Do in Los Angeles
(the IPO Presents shows at The Scene in Glendale will continue as scheduled
on the third Thursday of each month as well-look out for details of the next
one shortly).

The first IPO Presents at Fais Do Do takes place this coming Saturday,
August 14. Here's the lineup:

8:00 Kenny Howes: Mr. Howes comes to IPO Presents armed with his
Rickenbacker and five outstanding CDs. His style never fails to combine
Matthew Sweet, Beatles, and Beach Boys influences in a new and imaginative
way. His brand new CD, Lady Friend, takes things to a whole ‘nother level.

8:45 The Faded: When one thinks of IPO Presents, images of The Cure, A Flock
Of Seagulls, or The Church don’t readily come to mind, but once you see
these guys your perceptions may change as they gladly purvey those classic
‘80s stylings and take them into the New Millennium. www.thefaded.com

9:30 Service Group: A quintet who describe their music as “mod-ernish jangly
guitar rock with an obvious ‘medium-fi’ sound”. Service Group continues to
wave the powerpop flag like a soldier on the side who has lost…whatever that
means! An excellent band, to be sure! www.svcgrp.com

10:15 The Adjustments: Their melodically driven songs and uniquely arranged
music reveal a broader vision of pop-rock, echoing classic songwriting with
a distinctly modern urgency and tension. Names like Elvis Costello,
Squeeze, and Cake will come to mind while listening to their new EP, Marie.
Ave. Plus, they add trumpet to the mix; very cool! www.theadjustments.com

11:00 The Sexies: They are definitely a well named outfit, as their brand of
melodic and varied power pop is…well…sexy, and their lead vocalist, Todd
Heinrich, is one of the best you'll hear on the scene today! Their new CD,
Smiling Politely, is 14 songs of kinetic, fun music. www.thesexies.com

The cover for this show is $8. Fais Do Do is located at 5257 West Adams
Blvd. in Los Angeles. Their phone is 323 954-8080 and website is
www.faisdodo.com. This show is 18+ (Their website says 21+, but I can
assure you that the IPO Presents shows there will be 18+).

We hope to see you there!
