Right... I think that's it exactly. This is giving in to hyperbole a bit,
but I think I gave my answer last week with my post comparing No Doubt to the
Beatles. No Doubt could've been the next Beatles, except for the fact that the
modern workings of the industry wouldn't really let them be. Again, hyperbole
here... the point is you could throw almost any talented mainstream act into
the equation "__________ could have been the next Beatles", but the industry
standard is to not allow bands to develop to that point any longer. It's
sad. But are there still bands who are so talented? Of course... but again, if
they're not allowed to develop, if they're actively DISCOURAGED from
developing, we never get to know. --Jason
