Mmmmmm......beer. I think most Scotsmen would avoid ales that were called
things like Headsplitter. We'd assume the amusing name was for the
tourists here. We had a brewery called Harviestoun who every new year put
out a Nouveau ale (called, for example, Harviestoun Nouveau '98 etc). I
innocently ordered a pint for me and a pint for my friend and wondered why
the barmaid was sniggering - "Oh, people only ever order this by the half
pint, it's 9% alcohol by volume". At which point my pal handed me his pint
and said "Ah'm no' drinkin' that muck, Boabby". So I drank his as well as
mine and after an hour in the pub it felt like I'd been on a night out!

I like Heineken in a frosted glass when in the States.

Bob
