It could have sounded like a Edison cylinder and I'd have loved it, but yea, it sounds great.
If you have a super sensitive needle on a not too nice turntable you'll hear some motor noise, because it's an acetate, not vinyl.  It sounds like vinyl, but feels like a 78rpm.  You can get up to 18 minutes a side without much loss on the audio quality.  I suggest you send a mastered cd/cdr.  If the bass is too loud it will need to be further eq'd by the presser and will cost more, also if the levels are too hot he'll bring them down for the press and you'll get more noise.  
EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
