Time Warner Cable Sponsors "International Pop Overthrow"
Benefit Concert in Huntington Beach
--Show to benefit VH1 Save the Music Foundation scheduled for August
1st--
LOS ANGELES - For the seventh consecutive year, Time Warner Cable will be
serving as the presenting sponsor for an Orange County International Pop
Overthrow benefit concert. This year's show will be held on August 1 at Fitzgerald's
Irish Pub in Huntington Beach. This year, all proceeds will benefit the VH1
Save the Music Foundation.
The International Pop Overthrow (IPO) is an annual pop music festival
featuring artists from around the world performing live in concert in
Los Angeles and Orange County. Time Warner and Fitzgerald's will be
co-sponsoring the benefit on Sunday, August 1, beginning at 7:00pm.
Time Warner Cable's Los Angeles Division is pleased to partner with the
VH1 Save The Music Foundation to help assist in their mission: to restore
music education programs in our public schools and to raise awareness of the
positive impact music participation has on students.
The VH1 Save The Music Foundation provides a unique service in its
efforts to improve the current state of education. The Foundation works
directly to support only music education programs and provides complete band,
string, or keyboard programs to benefiting schools. By providing instruments
and not funding, the contribution will be used for its intended purpose: the
restoration of public school music programs.
The IPO show will feature eight different artists performing half-hour
sets. Scheduled performers include Scarlet Crush (voted "Best Pop Rock Band"
at the Orange County Music Awards for the past three years), Eugene Edwards
(high-energy guitar-pop from Los Angeles) and sparklejets*uk (quirky O.C. pop),
as well as acts from Canada, Texas and Oregon.
In addition to Time Warner and Fitzgerald's, this year's sponsors include the
Garden Grove Journal, Scott Weimer and Associates, the Huntington Beach Local
News, Amplifier Magazine, JAM Records, Not Lame Records and Marketworks.
With the help of sponsorships, donations and ticket sales, International
Pop Overthrow concerts have raised more than $14,000 for various local
charities since 1998. For more information on the International Pop
