I've always loved listening to BW's early non-B.Boy productions
(this week's fave?
"He's A Doll" by The Honeys!)

It's been my theory that Brian would test-drive his more sophisticated songs,
techniques and ideas on OTHER acts well before he applied them to actual BB
sessions.
And so, as we can plainly hear,
"Guess I'm Dumb" for example actually sported a "Pet Sounds"-calibre melody,
arrangement and production ...yet over a year before "God Only Knows" et al.

Which makes what the man accomplished in the Sixties even MORE impressive
(not to mention consistently lightyears ahead of his contemporaries
.....yes, those Beatles included ;-)

PS:
and didn't Glen nail that "Dumb" melody in a mere two takes?
YOWZA,

Gary "Jesus Loves You Brian Wilson + The Only Living Boy In New York = Mark
Johnson's 12 in a room?" Pig
