Hey everyone,
Just got back from IPO. It ran pretty late but it was a great show. I
don't think there was one act that I disliked (which is rare) ..
The opening act were The Bobbleheads. I'd heard these guys on CD but
hadn't seen them live. They were good and quirky. Make sure to catch
them in SF.
I didn't know it until I got there but one of the acts tonight was one
half of the Rembrandts. He did some solo material. Nothing that blew
me away or anything but he was decent. He's also playing with the band
towards the end of the festival. It seemed like most of the crowd was
there to see him though.
P. Hux also brought quite a crowd in, including 5 or 6 girls dressed as
beauty pageant contestants (?!). They had crowns and sashes. Most of
them said "runner-up" so I don't know who the winner was. I'm sure she
was there.
Owsley closed out the show, playing at LEAST an hours worth of material
from both CD's and a couple of covers... I'd never seen him live before
but he was as great as I thought he'd be.. The strange thing is that he
didn't bring any CD's with him to sell. Millard Powers was also with
him on bass ..
I'll be back at IPO on Sunday night, I have to skip tomorrow's show
(tonight actually) .. come by the merch table and say hello!
I'm going to post the tracklisting for the 3 CD's in the next post .. so
don't read it if you don't want to be spoiled!
