But, I bet the band never stopped for one second and collectively decided
that chasing the dragon was going to, in the end, destroy their
career....and their cash flow for years to come. They could have stopped the
gratuitous spending and the climbing cost of what was unrecouped. Does
Slichter, in his hindsight, talk about doing anything about the fact that
they were going to get shafted for all this rock star treatment?
I'm curious to know if he, or the band, begrudges the labels for screwing
them over....or do they take some responsibility for letting themselves GET
screwed? Cos there always seems to be a very self-serving bias to acts who
end up losing the big enchilada and then claim they were victims of the evil
major label empire.
They can't ruin your career if you don't let them.
