I'm on digest, and really behind, so maybe I just didn't see the
discussion when it happened, but what's everyone think about Fastball's
newest?
Personally, it's my favorite of their albums, as a whole album, so far.
They really seem to have lightened up now that they aren't on a
major-major and expected to produce that next multi-million selling
single.
It takes a certain amount of chutzpah to write an entirely new song
based on the name of a standard like "Louie, Louie," but they pull it
off. It's not the strongest song on the album by any means, but it's
pleasant enough to listen to whenever I put the album on.
The standout track is clearly "til I Get it Right." They got it right
with this song -- one of my favorites of the new year so far. I also
like the tracks like "red light" where they are simply having some fun
and making interesting music again.
