Aesthetics have not factored into my own storage, since the CDs are here in
the office where I have easy access to them for work, so they're not in a
place that most houseguests see. So I've simply gotten a bunch of
off-the-rack CD units from Maverick Furniture (www.bostonwood.com), a shop
just up the street at Packard's Corner. They also do custom units: in
fact, one wall of our living room is floor-to-ceiling bookcases that were
custom-made by Maverick several years ago.
Thing is, no matter what, if you have a massive collection, one or more
rooms of your house will look like a used record store exploded.
