I just picked up a CD of "That's Not Funny, That's Sick" from National Lampoon which is an album that I have waited forever to come out on CD. It was always my favorite because of the variety of talent from Richard Belzer to Bill Murray. Classic stuff.

It looks like there weren't any masters available because the disc was taken from vinyl. Wow. A lot of pops and clicks. It really didn't sound all that different from my own worn out copy that I recorded to CD.

This is not the first disc that I have that was mastered from vinyl. I expect it from really old obscure 50's and early 60's records put out on labels I've never heard of before. It really does say something about labels when the 70's and 80's material has to be mastered from vinyl.

On the topic of One Way - I'll miss that reissue label because they did put out stuff that I would have hoped Rhino would have done "someday". Aside from The Producers...my favorite Robert Gordon album "Are You Gonna Be The One" from 1981 was put out by One Way. This is a great album with some killer tunes including three Marshall Crenshaw songs like "Someday, Someway". The label had put out quite a number of albums out by Robert Gordon. I also picked up America's "Your Move" and I think that there a few Poco titles as well from the label. It's always a shame when a label has to shut down.
