Various Artists: Shake Yer Popboomerang 2 (Popboomerang)
"My fellow Americans, I stand before you today to bring to your attention a
significant threat to our national pop superiority - a brand new CD entitled
Shake Yer Popboomerang Volume 2. Each & every artist on this disc is
Australian, yet each rocks and pops in a manner that would make any American
proud. Apparently, the Australians have been working for quite some time on
this musical project and the results are frighteningly impressive. In
response, I am today calling for a concentrated effort on the part of
American musicians to match this Australian challenge. Somewhere out in this
great land is a band that can match the relentlessly joyful drive of Her
Majesty's Finest's "Shake Yer Popboomerang," the haunting beauty of the
Sound Platform's "Summer Something," or the soaring majesty of Prettymess'
"Everything has Gone." This effort must begin immediately: in order for us
to match this Australian effort on a per capita basis, we will need to come
up with no less than 350 top notch American pop tunes. I know we have the
collective chops; we cannot, and must not, fail. It will not be easy, but it
must be done for the sake of future American musicians yet unborn. Time to
put down the remote and pick up the guitar - for the good of your country.
God bless you, and God bless America."
