Should haves?
Record labels should have been aware of how file sharing was going to change
the musical world years ago

Musicians have neglected royalties for decades
but the real question here is
Did the songwriters write the tunes?
Did the people in power and knowledge of how to communicate the contracts
properly
take adavantage of the situation?

Let's forget for 1 moment about contracts and lawyers
I realize that's nearly impossible when your dealing with ... music?

In your heart of hearts. If you are a successful record company not offering
your artists retirement or health insurance
Can we all agree payment is deserved and justified?
