The majors are going to have to eat this cost at some point,
anyways.....it's just a matter of time before the MP3 download philosophy
becomes standard practice. At that point the available digitized material
will have been exhausted and the vaults will have to be gutted for the
labels to keep functioning in any capacity.
So, why wait? Get digitizing and clearing licenses now.....give other labels
the opportunity to niche market bonus tracks on compact disc while the
format is still common-place and reserve the rights to downloading for later
when they're ready to unleash the stuff.
If it doesn't get done now, not only will it be more expensive, but the
audience will be gone.
