Mike Wiz inquired about PFR

>They had one song that was remarkably jellyfish-like
They had a few songs on their Goldie's Last Day album that sounded
Jellyfishish to me. I first heard songs off the album as an unmarked tape
and (incorrectly) guessed that it was a Jellyfish side project. I can highly
recommend Goldie's Last Day to anyone on this list - it's full of summery
Rubber Soul influenced pop with tight harmonies and excellent musicianship.
The records after that were too slickly produced and sterile sounding for my
ears and the music seemed to take a back seat to the lyrics. I think the
only thing in print now is a greatest hits album which has four or five
songs from that album.

>I think they were somewhat of a Christian rock band
They were definitely a Christian band. They recorded on a Christian label
(Sparrow) and their later records put Christian themes more upfront. But on
Goldie's Last Day the lyrics just seem a little positive. I was a little
freaked out the first time I saw them since I had never seen a Christian
band before and was not expecting to see two different separate five to ten
minute sermons in the middle show. But they were the band that opened my
eyes to not turning away a good pop band just because I didn't agree with
their religious views. I might not have given later great Christian bands
like Starflyer 59 and the Elms a fair shake if it wasn't for PFR.

I knew somebody that was a little embarrassed to find out that PFR were a
Christian band. He had thought that they were a gay power pop band because
several songs talked about HIS love. I would have loved to see the fan's
between band conversations at shows if more people made that mistake and
they developed a parallel gay following.

>does that mean Pray for Rain?
Yes, there was a British band called Pray for Rain so they had to shorten
their name to PFR.

>but a song about their dog
Yes, the title song is about a band member's dog who had to put to sleep,
but the band spent a whole day out with the dog beforehand giving some kind
of grand send off.
