The best 3 original albums the Hollies did was "For Certain Because",
"Evolution" and "Butterfly" - I suggest finding the English EMI digipacks that
contain both the stereo and mono LP mixes. The Sundazed re-releases are the
shorter Epic albums, all stereo and the tracks are jumbled around.

I go back to thier third album - "Surfin USA" which was the first Beach Boys
album credited totally to Brian Wilson. Despite silly surfin/cars/girls lyrics
the music was beyond any american rock group was making then. And if you love
"Pet Sounds" the 2-fer of "Beach Boys Today/Summer Days (and Summer
Nights!) is
mandatory listening.

And if you love the Beach Boys, you might enjoy digging through the Four
Seasons catalog, theres plenty of great songs beyond the hits. Rhino's "Off
Seasons - Criminally Ignored Sides" does a good job of rounding up the mid
60's
obscurities, but its a edited version of a two volume "Rarities" set they put
out in the early 90's. For orginal albums I adore 1964's "Rag Doll" album
which is all Gaudio-Crewe originals and holds up very well. 1966's "Workin' My
Way Back To You" and the ledgendary but overlooked "Genuine Imitation Life
Gazette" from 1968 are outstanding albums. Crewe records has reissued part of
thier 60's catalog here in the USA, but they are cheaply put together with no
liner notes. Ace Records has put together some really nice 2-fers of these
albums, but sadly some now have gone out of print.
