It's done. The master is in my hands. I am working on the art as we speak.
I think it's his best yet - lots more guitars!! It is very
Brit-centric and very very
good.
Maybe October/November. I will do my usual pre-sale soon as it's
closer to release.
Part of the reason I was away is i just came back from about a month in Italy
with a stop in Cambridge and London where I got together with Kimberley and
got to see his studio and generally get to spend some quality time as
opposed to
trying to talk before/after a gig.
I got to meet with the Waves guys and it was great to see everyone
after 25+ years.
Katrina was performing out of the country so I'll have to catch up
with her next visit.
Fear not - Bible Of Bop will surface next year and I think I've
worked out a way to
round up all the extra Shock Horror & pre-Capitol b-Side stuff to
keep the collectors happy.
Yes - Plastic man will finally appear (it is NOT the Kinks song).
By the way, Kim's girlfriend Lee Cave-Berry has a cool Rew-produced
cd for sale on Cd Baby.
Some great 60s style rockers on it and Rew guitars, of course!
The Italian part of my trip was visiting the town my folks are from &
also participating in a writers
conference. We had a white van (only thing available in automatic)
going through the Abruzzi mountains
(unbelievable!!) till we hit the mountain town (literally) my family
is from in Molise. Very emotional stuff
as I had only ever been there when I was 5 years old. I actually
ended up performing two little sets in Udine (as part of this
literary conference) and one in Casacalenda (part of their Kalenarte
art event) of basically
all-Italian material....people dug it a lot (I guess no one has ever
written a song about the city of Campobasso before).... anyway.... i
had grand visions of finding out of the way second hand record
stores... but no such luck...
nothing at all in the small towns and the one place in Udine (up
north) was way overpriced (the Canadian dollar
is so bad).... i purposely avoided big cities so I'll check em out
next trip....
there was an interesting TV special
on RAI while I was there of the 50 biggest selling Italian pop songs
of all time... remember Rita Pavoni of Ed Sullivan show fame (and
dollar bin cut out staple) - wow! who knew? she's still around and
stole the show with a total 60s style R&B workout of I think a song
called "Cuore" (http://www.ritapavone.it/) - she was very cool!
Wearing a black suit with ruffled white shirt just belting it out -
wow!! I'm gonna have to dig up that RCA lp I have of her with the
Beatle cap and see what gives...
Ciao for now!
