I think it is informative to compare one band to
another. Though that doesn't always best describe the
band being reviewed. I know people who like the
Beatles but do not like Oasis and versa visa. Or even
like the Monkees but not the Beatles (gasp).
I know in the case of The Ringles, when we released
our first CD we were compared to The Shoes by many
reviews. To be honest, in my dark black hole, I had
never heard any music by the Shoes. Or another
comparison was Emmitt Rhodes. And to this day I have
only heard 2 of his songs. The best comparison I have
heard of the Ringles is "If Mike Nesmith from the
Monkees sang for The Smithereens". I like that one.
But what is kind of cool is to read a review where
they write,"They sound like The Ringles". I find that
to be a nice pat on the back. Now I will return to my
dark black hole.
