I was listening to a tape of a radio interview with John Lennon from the early 70s, and he was talking about Electric Light Orchestra and how much he liked them. He said he thought United Artists dropped the ball on pushing "Showdown," which he thought was a No. 1. He then described it as a cross between "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Lightning Strikes."

Just as I was thinking, "What's he talking about?" the DJ played "Showdown," and I coudn't stop laughing -- Lennon's got it exactly right. I've listened to it so many times, and I can't believe I never heard it before.

Try it yourself.
