Hi friends,

I was in Gijon last May 25. I'm biased because I'll take anything he does, but even though I felt there was a lot of deja vu in his gestures, comments, etc... the "new" songs were a real treat. You Won't See Me just sent me to heaven. That was the highlight of the show for me. Helter Skelter was a great surprise too... I mean, I thought "he'll die onstage now", but even though his voice suffered, he did justice to the song.
Now, someone must remind him that he already played She's A Woman live before in the early 90s. He introduced the song saying "I've never played this before". In fact, his rendition of She's A Woman back in his secret Barcelona gig from 1991 was very special *because* he did something different, really! He said: "she's not a woman, she's not a man, she's not washing machine, she's not a toaster, she's not a football, she's a woman"! How could he forget that, eh? :-) I haven't!
His version from Gijon was dry, soulful, very good.

The acoustic part was perhaps the weakest part of the show (if any). In Spite of All The Danger is just a little ditty, not worth of inclusion in a show. "What do you want, for five pounds"? -he said at the end. OK!

The fire in Live And Let Die was yet more spectacular than last time.
He started pronouncing the first verse of Drive My Car before actually starting the song, and I thought this was a cool way to introduce it. It sounded great again.

So, happy? Yes, but I still wish he played more obscure songs, of course! The same discussion that arises everytime he goes on tour. But wait, he did a new "song". A ditty called "Time For My Massage" or something, just before Lady Madonna. About two minutes of time foooor my maassssagee... against a synth background. Yeah, expectactions were higher....

best!
Francesc
