Hey Jeff T, I live right near the Kemp Mill shopping center, where the first (and for a long time) only Kemp Mill Records was located (hard to believe they no longer have a store there). The LPs were 3 for $10 and I'd buy 6 each week. The two owners (the only employees, and we're talking early 1970s) saw me so much they offered me a job. As I was gainfully employed at Roy Rogers (walking distance) I foolishly said no!

A good buddy of mine owns Record & Tape Traders (headquarted in Catonsville MD). His name is Steve Smolen and he collects Nils Lofgren and Bruce Springsteen stuff. My buddy Bob Berberich was the drummer in Grin with Nils, so when Steve found out that I knew Bob & that he lived in fredereick MD, he naturally wanted to meet him. Now Bob manages the Record and Tape Traders in Frederick MD where he lives.

The best ever DC area vinyl store was Skip Groff's Yesterday And Today Records in Rockville MD. Skip closed shop about two years ago and is now mail order only. He literally has hundreds of thousands of 45s for sale, is very knowledgable about 60s,70s and 80s music, and is a super nice guy too. His web address is http://stores.ebay.com/YESTERDAY-AND-TODAY-RECORDS_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm
