Yeah, Village Music was very cool.  Your anecdote about Greg Kihn makes me
want to start a new thread: "Well-known musicians who we saw work behind a
counter at a record store".  I'll go first (well, second, since you started
with Mr. Kihn at Rather Ripped):

1. Syd Griffin worked at Rhino Records in LA for a time during the '80s.

2. R. Stevie Moore worked for many years (and maybe still does) at a record
shop in Northern New Jersey-Stewart, please forgive me for forgetting the
name.  :-)

Anyone else?
