After David's typically erudite (!) and excellent rundown of his rekkid store faves, here are a few of mine........nice to see mention of Sounds of St. Marks......i used to go there in the late '70's whilst still in high school when i would accompany my dad on biz trips to NYC from Philly......Bleecker Bobs wasn't too shabby either.....anyway......

Third Street Jazz-3rd St Philadelphia...i discovered this store when I was going to the Phila College of Art in 1980...old store had cramped aisles in the downstairs area where rock stuff was sold....awesome imports, hard to find stuff....all the best UK 45's....got "Radio City" sealed for $2.99 in 1980......everything i used to read about in New York Rocker, Bomp and Trouser Press was here for my non-existent wallet!

In Your Ear, Nuggets, Planet, Second Coming and Mystery Train-Boston/Cambridge MA locations......IYE has moved about 3 times since the '80's when i moved here, from skinny little store to bigger skinny store, but always a good stop to find stuff....Reed Lappin was always a cool guy and he let me sell him a few copies of the Raspberries book I worked on with Ken Sharp back in '92......Nuggets in Kenmore Square, the original downstairs one was pretty cool in it it's day, not as essential these days.......

Twist and Shout, Denver.....went there whilst visiting Bruce Brodeen some years back and I was floored by the fact that they let you PLAY cd's before you bought them......

like many of us, the browse factor of retail and the tangibility of holding these objects of desire in yer hot hands was often times a near life affirming experience......

all I can think of for now......Stewart, your thoughts?

jim
