Yup, yup. Which raises a point, in that I have ALWAYS thought that the
great Queen singles frequently overshadowed songs that were as good, if
not better, from the same albums. I guess there was a bias, in releasing
singles, toward Freddie's songs (although not 100%, to be sure), but on
every record there were three or four simply amazing songs that never
got released as singles. "Teo Torriatte," from A DAY AT THE RACES, is
one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard (we used it as one of
the slow dance songs at our wedding, in fact); "Long Away" and "39" make
me wonder how big Brian May could have been with or without Freddie
(jeez, NEWS OF THE WORLD alone had "All Dead, All Dead," "Sleeping on
the Sidewalk," and "It's Late"); and "Tenement Funster" was simply a
HUGE rocker that coulda mighta beena hit.
I think the guys should release a "best of" that includes songs they
never released as singles, but could have.....

...it's a lonesome thing to be passing small towns with the
lights shining sideways when the night is down, or going in
strange places with a dog nosing before you and a dog nosing
behind, or drawn to the cities where you'd hear a voice
kissing and talking deep love in every shadow of the ditch,
and you passing on with an empty, hungry stomach failing
from your heart.
