A friend at work loaned me the second Strokes CD, which I just never got 
around to picking up when it came out.  I must say that, to me, it sounds 
like the work of two totally different bands.  Whereas on their debut, The 
Strokes sounded like a band that was heavily derivative of The Velvet 
Underground, Television, et al., this second effort sounds like a band that 
is heavily derivative of The Strokes.  That it's The Strokes themselves 
sounding like second-rate copycats of The Strokes is, from a conceptual 
standpoint, pure genius.  From the standpoint of my spending $14 for this 
disc -- no thanks...
