I honestly think that Transworld might have simply forgotten about this
store: I'm in Copley Place a *lot* and I only realized that this store even
existed a few months ago. It's stuck in a backwater dead-end of the third
floor, with nothing of any interest around it.
I'm shocked that this Barnes and Noble -- which is huge even by B&N
standards...I think the local press said that it was the largest B&N store
in the entire chain when it opened last year -- not only hasn't shut down
this pathetic Record Town, but that the Brentano's directly underneath it
(an equally terrible chain bookstore owned by Waldenbooks) is still open as
well.
