Always nice to re-visit the early faves. I was pretty fortunate to have a brother 9 years older than me who had a varied taste in music, so from the age of 5 upwards I was off and running (or should that be listening). Early faves off the top of my head were:
Lene Lovich - Lucky Number
Stranglers - No More Heroes
The Knack - My Sharona
XTC - Making Plans For Nigel (still one of my favourite songs)
Queen - Bicycle Race (in fact, the whole of Jazz)
The Police - So Lonely
The Jam - Strange Town
David Bowie - Boys Keep Swinging
Killing Joke - Wardance
...And the 2 albums I remember listening to all the time:-
The Beatles - A Collection of Beatles Oldies (pretty much their first "hits" collection)
The Kinks - 20 Golden Greats (yellow cover - released on the Ronco label - absolutely bloody marvelous)
With these 2 albums alone, it's little wonder that 20-odd years later I found myself signed up to Audities!
Cheers,
Mike
