Shawn, More proof that life just isn't fair. You reminded me of why I
was hired at Wazoo records many years ago. I was in grad school at
the time and I went up to the owner of Wazoo records. I told him I
was interested in working for him. He wondered if I had retail
experience. "Not really" but I told him how much I loved music and
thought I could be of help to the customers. He said and I
quote "That doesn't really matter". Now this the cool used record
store in Madison and I was kind of floored by this comment. He asked
me what I was doing and I told him I was in school for Psychology. He
told me he would hire me because he liked Psychology. He said he
would tell me WHY he liked it someday. He never did. Although I can
only assume he or a family member got some help along the way.
Anyway, that's how I got in the door at Wazoo. I honestly feel
lucky to have gotten that job.
I still remember the old fashion cash register the store had with a
crank handle. It was so cool.
Bruce B, so cool to hear from you! I'd wondered about your experience.
Best, Steve D
