First, let me note that:
1: Yes, the drummer and bass player for Velvet Revolver are fuckwits. We
now have the answer to the question "what if Beavis and Butt-head joined
a band?"
2: Yes, the concept of the band, from the label's perspective, is
cynical and backward-looking and formulaic.
3: I haven't heard the CD and couldn't really make out too much from the
show last night. It sounded GnRish, I guess, but I'd need to hear more
to have an opinion on how good they are.
That said, Slash and Scott Weiland are talented musicians. If I had a
label and they came to me and said "we have a new band," I'd damned sure
give them a listen. Of course, I found the one guy's musings on
Weiland's "health issues" to be downright hysterical. What he basically
said was "well, he hasn't died yet, and we think that's a positive
sign." If the label goes under this guy has a future as a government
spokesman somewhere.....

...it's a lonesome thing to be passing small towns with the
lights shining sideways when the night is down, or going in
strange places with a dog nosing before you and a dog nosing
behind, or drawn to the cities where you'd hear a voice
kissing and talking deep love in every shadow of the ditch,
and you passing on with an empty, hungry stomach failing
from your heart.
