And I'm okay with that, too. My god. Is there no
wardrobe catastrophe that i am unwilling to overlook
in the quest to deify the music of my formative years?

what?

but, to make myself feel better, i tried to list those
acts whom i hated then, and hated now (like Rick
Astley and Jodi Watley and New Kids on the Block) but
find they are pretty much all later 80s acts. The
first wave pantheon I have a soft spot for - hell, I
even liked New Edition (it was an odd period for me,
granted, to be listening to New Edition AND New Order,
but I feel sure I'm not the only one.)

Oh, but this was a TERRIBLE era for Kool and the Gang
(Joanna! vomitus!), and I can do without most of the
collected Lionel Ritchie from this era too (Give me
"Deep River Woman" anyday). Hall and Oates, though,
as has been repeatedly pointed out here, hold up
pretty well. Phil Collins/Genesis? I can't remember
any more blockbuster type acts.

who am i missing? toto wasn't THAT big, were they?
