it's indeed worth it for the fabulous b-sides disc, but be forewarned that the two a-sides discs on "hits" aren't necessarily the best way to find your way into prince. the sequencing is random and bizarre, and the version of "when doves cry" is a shortened, edited version that will make you cry for all the wrong reasons.

p.s. i don't think madonna ruled along with prince, michael and bruce in 84. she was just another up-and-coming pop star at the time. she ruled the world -- and deservedly so! -- a few years later. and, oh yeah, "around the world in a day" does have some crap songs near the end, but it's so worth it for "tamborine," "paisley park" and the singles that it isn't even funny.
