Anybody else loving the new WEIGHTLIFTING disc as much as moi?
Me, me, me !!! :-) I picked up the EP at the Pop Culture Press SXSW party
(which also featured Bigger Lovers, Jessica Fletchers, Golden Apples, etc).
Once I started listening to it in my car CD player, it was hard to take it
out. The songs are just absolutely beautiful ; they draw you in and stay in
your head for days. The EP has 3 new songs and the bonus track is a live
show recorded in Paris in 1996.
I lost track of this band after 1991 ; I still have my copy of their debut,
Cake, on cassette. An official release date has not been announced. For now,
you can only buy the EP from their website. "All The Dark Horses" also
appears on the compilation disc in the most recent issue of Pop Culture
Press. And don't forget to check out the fine interview by Will Harris on
the Pop Matters website.
Cheers,
Jennifer
