David,

When I sent him an email a while back requesting the disc for my radio program, he sent back a longish email, detailing his bio, and mentioning the Zuider Zee album! I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for it now. He does offer some details on his website - which has a bit...(like the Zuider Zee album apparently) of quirkiness thrown in - especially navigationally speaking once you're there. So the main entrance is http://www.richardorange.com (but this is simply a redirect to another address. In any case, his bio is on the website and the direct address is: http://www.bangor.ac.uk/~iss082/orange/bio.htm . He seems really amiable, friendly - and his email was certainly generous with details - and it had the feel of NOT being boilerplate, but rather he was taking the time to retell his tale. So it's either good boilerplate, or he's pretty generous with his time. I think he'd welcome your words David, that's for sure - and any efforts to get Richard Orange music out (including reissuing Zuider Zee) - I'm sure he'd gladly help. I, for one, would line up for the results!

best,

craig

I was recently listening to the new CD by Richard Orange, which I'd read
about on the Not Lame site. It's really good; some classic pop sounds with
Beatle influence, but while listening to it I realized that the name Richard
Orange sounded really familiar. Then it hit me: the leader of the '70s band
Zuider Zee was named Richard Orange, and though it doesn't mention Zuider
Zee anywhere on the Not Lame description or the promo sheet accompanying the
CD, it turns out it is indeed the same guy.

Do any Auditeers own the Zuider Zee LP? It was originally released in 1975
on Columbia Records without any fanfare or sales to speak of, but it's a
really good album with some very McCartney-meets-Tommy Hoehn styled tunes
and a bit of quirkiness thrown in.

I would love to see a CD release of this album! Bruce, perhaps this is
something you could work on, as I'm almost certain you would love this
album!
