Wow, whatever the written equivalent is of an eargasm would be, that post
had to come close! :-)

I really love "Overnight Sensation" as well, as it's definitely one of my 10
favorite Raspberries songs. However, it most stands out in my mind as
having the most hilarious lyrical translation I've ever seen on any Japanese
LP or CD! As many Auditeers know, when Japanese companies would do a
pressing of LPs/CDs with English lyrics, if a lyric sheet was not included
with the US or UK issue of the LP (or sometimes, even if one was), someone
at the Japanese label would take it upon themselves to attempt to decipher
the lyrics and would include these in the Japanese issue.

Here's a sampling of their translation of some of the lyrics of "Overnight
Sensation" (with the correct lyrics below the translated ones), from the
Japanese 'Starting Over' CD:

Well I know it sounds funny
But I'm not leaving for the mornin' show
I don't need no repetition
And I'm leavin' for the show (sounds like he's contradicting himself here!)

> Well I know it sounds funny
> But I'm not in it for the money, no
> I don't need no reputation
> And I'm not in it for the show

Well, the program wrapped it up so poorly
The style didn't get back so poorly (good thing for them the program and the
style are two different things!)

> Well if the program director don't pull it
> Then it's bound to get back the bullet

and here's my personal fave:

I bit the wood
To a good man indeed
Amazing as he says
He's been no relief, so long

(kinda sounds like an ad for Viagra, doesn't it?)

> I fit the words
> To a good melody
> Amazing how success
> Has been ignoring me so long

Please understand, I'm not trying to make fun of these people. I actually
applaud the effort, but these lyrics ARE funny!
