I am on the digest version so when I saw JTease had responded to the Cliff
email I figgered he would be answering this question. Alas, he was taking me to
task about not having auditeer buttons with me at the Deweyfest. Totally my
bad, but in way of explaination I will give this: We were so laden with Cliff
merch that I totally forgot my "groupie bag" that has all that stuff in it. I
was so focused on my new job as merch girl that my stuff came second. Also I was
a bit weary as we had driven the night before from Wilmington to New Jersey
then from NJ to Lancaster PA and from there back to home. AND the cat ate my
gymsuit. ;-P
In any case, though I was not around at the time, it is true- Cliff was
guitar tech for The Innocence Mission and The Ocean Blue. I am not sure of the
years, but I do recall that some of the shows were opening for Natalie Merchant
and some were opening for Emmy Lou Harris.
There was also a leg of one of the IM's tour where Cliff was their bass
player - Mike Bitts' wife had just had a baby and did not go on tour with the
band, so Cliff filled in. BIG thrill was when he actually played bass for Emmylou!
I have seen the pictures- and no I don't believe that he was photoshopped
in...!
