The other night at an IPO show, Dag Juhlin (former Slug, current Goldstar)
did a solo acoustic set in which he performed a magnificent cover of a song
I never dreamed could be re-interpreted as a solo acoustic number -- at
least not in a manner that rivaled the spirit and upbeat vibe of the
original -- Earth, Wind & Fire's "September".

As a metalhead-turned-New-Wave-teenager in late '78 when "September" hit the
airwaves, I was completely indifferent to it. Now it's one of my favorite
songs; I can't resist smiling and stopping to enjoy it every time that I
hear it. And the fact that "September" holds no nostalgic weight for me,
since I didn't particularly cotton to it upon the song's initial release,
somehow makes my enjoyment of the song feel even purer.

Question: Does anybody else have a song that they either didn't like or
didn't heed much when it was first came out, only to come around and
consider it a favorite years later?
