On Mon, 26 Apr 2004, Gene Creson asked:
>>My son is always dippin' into dad's cd collection, so I thought I'd buy him his very own store-bought cd for his birthday. I need recommendations. Gotta be pop. Gotta be peppy. Gotta be clean language. Anyone got any ideas?<<
Gene:
My seven-year old son, having been introduced to "I'm A Believer" via Smash Mouth's cover version on the "Shrek" soundtrack, thinks the Monkees are pretty cool. And why not? After all, a couple of generations ago, the show/group was targeting the pre-teen audience, right? If you want pop, peppy, and lyrics suitable for primetime, you can't go wrong with the Monkees.
If you're looking for something recorded in the last decade, my kid also digs Jeff Foskett, especially his energetic cover of "I Live For The Sun," found on 1996's THRU MY WINDOW.
