well, well...
I pretty much agree with the Friday night reviews
that Beth and John have posted already. Got to see
some DC and VA bands too, and sorry to miss Milkshake
Jones (damn rain). Like I said all night, the fact
that Cliff & Forward Thinkers set and The Knobs set
were exactly at the same time broke some rule in the
PA-DE 'musician's union' so-to-speak but I managed to
catch a few songs from the Knobs outside. Cliff-Jane
Anchor-IKE sets were amazing. The Jellybricks! wow,
a whole year passed since I last saw them, and the new
CD is INCREDIBLE.
I saved my drinking cap for the Saturday night crew.
Grandfabric rocked us outside at the Lighthouse first
thing...AFTER the massive crowds there for the PROM
parade, what a nightmare. no place to park, and load
in a bitch for bands, but they cleared out by 6:45pm
thankfully.
after GF, it was inside for Swivel Chairs and the Face
Down Records showcase. I missed Parallax project but
my roomie, Janice caught them. I was drinking with
the Face Down crew...The Commons rocked and then I
slipped away to catch Fooled By April who were
incredible and sounding very tight. apparently they
lost some gear to a thief the previous night, but that
didn't stop them from playing full-on. a quick hello
to those guys and I raced back to catch the
Dipsomaniacs and continue with a steady stream of
beer. Rockin' sets from both the Dipsos and then
Bastards of Melody! Recovery might be a little rough
today, but we made it home in record time. now I can
settle in and watch some hockey (go FLYERS!).
It was great to meet everyone, and see everyone again.
I still think there were questionable entries into
the Popfest, but who I am to say?!
until next time.....
