Greetings from Austin Texas ... I just wanted to recommend checking out a
couple of my favorite bands from Austin. Shane Bartell released a full
length CD a few months ago titled "Too Soon To Say". Check out the "radio
station" feature online (www.shanebartell.com) and hear for yourself if he
suits your ears and taste. He's going out on the road for a few dates (see
below). Who knows -- maybe you'll be inspired enough to join his street
team...

My other recommendation is Sparkwood. They're just great fun. A recent
review described them as "Elephant 6 meets Patridge Family." Whatever that
means, I'm not sure. You can hear other influences such as Queen, Cheap
Trick, Jellyfish, Squeeze, Crowded House, etc. No tour plans yet outside of
Austin. But there are mp3s available on their website (www.sparkwood.com)
plus a video for the track, "Miles Away".
For those of you who attended IPO Chicago this weekend, I hope that you had
a chance to check Austin's own, The Golden Apples, yesterday at The Beat
Kitchen.
