This is a legendary local music story: Boston is the only major city that
didn't suffer rioting that night, because since James Brown was scheduled
to play at the Garden that night anyway, the promoters and the city very
smartly announced that the show was going to be carried live on TV. So
everybody stayed in and watched James Brown instead!

However, I'm pretty sure that the mayor of Boston at that time was Kevin
White -- Daley was the mayor of Chicago.
