I wrote in my Fufkin.com review last month that this is the best debut album
to come from the UK since The Stone Roses. They write pop songs that you
can dance to, with a lot of prior influences, sure, but put together so
well. Topping it off, they write songs about something. The lyrics are a
nice mix of the direct and the abstract, with some great turns of phrase
(like the entire second verse of "The Dark of the Matinee", f'rinstance).
They also happen to be a fantastic live band.

Over the weekend, I found that nme.com has the video for "Dark" -- Real
Media player required. Further proof that this band can do no wrong in my
eyes.
