In response to your reply to my original post: Ya know, it's not really the
money, it's the time. In addition to being a long time music fan(atic), I
am an overtaxed husband/father/homeowner/breadwinner with a job that does
not allow me to listen to music at the office. well, I'm permitted to, but
I can't concentrate on my work and listen to music at the same time - the
music becomes background noise. I can't abide by that, I need to actively
listen to my music to appreciate it. Plus I'm a part-time musician
(unfortunately, the part gets smaller and smaller as I get older) - and I
like to devote what little free time at home I have to my own music rather
than listen to others. So, 99% of my music listening is in the car to and
fro work -- I basically listen to recorded music one hour a day, or about 5
hours a week - plus an hour or two here or there over the weekend. Not much
time, compared to many on this list, I gather! I'm envious of those of you
who listen for hours a day because you can do so at work, or because music
is your job and well as your passion!

Bottomline, I have about 100+ CDs in my "Haven't listened To yet/Only
listened once or twice but not enough to sink in" pile. And seeing that, of
the hundreds of CDs I've picked up over the past several years because I've
heard mention of it on this list, I would consider about half of them not
worth my listening time. So I'm trying to get a better feel for whether or
not I might enjoy it before I buy it and take the time to listen a few times
through. Fortunately, the other half of the CDs I've picked up because of
this list are IMO good -- and some, great.

As it stands, I really really like Linus of Hollywood and most of the LA
scene that I've heard to date (Wondermints, Stew/Negro Problem, Adam
Marsland/C Ghost, etc.) -- so I went back and picked up the Kim Fox CD, fer
sure. It's now in "the pile", hopefully I'll check it out sometime over
next several weeks!

Thanks, had to get that off my chest... :-)

PS - wonder if any other auditeers have the same music-deprivation problems
I have?

PPS - must give humungo kudos to the Wondermints, speaking of Los W, for
their superb support of Brian Wilson over the past few years or so. Saw BW
& Company live twice, and just last night watched the BW Pet Sounds live DVD
- was able to relive the live show from a few years back. What songs, what
a performance - an extremely high chill factor (i.e. The scientific
calculation of # of chills and intensity of chills I get per selection of
songs)!

Dave,
Live it up man. It's a $1. How about this...I really like the CD. If you
don't, I'll send you that dollar back. If you don't like, someone else here
will. It's a great album - produced by Linus of Hollywood and featuring some
heavy hitters of the L.A. pop scene. Great voice, and a number of really
fine tunes. Get the tall latte, instead of the grande today and buy the CD
with what you're saving. Go. Do it.>>>
