I'm catching up on days worth of mail here, so I know this is a few days
past due...but...regarding Hall & Oates...
I will defend 1979's X-Static to the day I die. "Who Said The World Was
Fair?" "Wait For Me" "Portable Radio" and other titles that escape me
right now are great examples of pseudo-new wave.
I was a big H&O fan when I was, like, 13 years old. I've mostly outgrown
them by now. But 1979's X-Static is still one I'll put on once in a while.
And yes, Along the Red Ledge IS a pretty good album, too, despite "Pleasure
Beach". In fact, every album they did from 1972-1984 have at least a few
great songs alongside at least a few stinkers. They really deserve a
well-compiled 2 CD best-of.
