somewhere in the comics dollar bins of America (actually, I was flabbergasted
to learn these are actually $3-$5 now)....
from the early 70s.....
Marvel Giant Size Chillers #1
Archie Red Circle Sorcery #6 or #7 - can't remember
there are... uh.... two stories written by me in those comics
that was about the extent of my career in comics (outside
of some letters printed here and there)
If anyone has old comics zines from the early 70s, chances are
I am in some of them.... that was a very very exciting time.... a lot
of the guys from that era went on to greater roles within the
industry proper, best example being Paul Levitz, who travelled
in the same fan circles I did, and is now DC honcho, which is pretty cool.
I don't really keep in contact with that world any more but Ken
Steacy (astro boy, star wars) is
a childhood friend and he's here on the coast and keeps me updated on
the gossip.... hahaaaa.... when i was actively publishing my RALPH
zine, i used lots
of comics illustrators for the covers..... Dean Motter (Mr. X) is
also an old pal
from those days.....
comics and rock n roll are very much intertwined, altho not always so (i always
got into trouble for mixing it up in my old zines in that era)....
now... SF fans... that's a WHOLE other world......
