Got this the other day:
Dear Hip-O Select Fans and Music Hoovers,
Wow.
Finally.
Live From Santa Monica, California, It's Hip-O Select Dot Com!
20 weeks (18, actually, counting the Xmas break) and three days ago, we had
a staff of one, no website, no release schedule and no way to get the
releases we didn't have to you. A few hours ago (depending on when you get
this email), www.hip-oselect.com went live with our three debut releases:
1) Johnny Burnette and the Rock'n'Roll Trio's Complete Coral Recordings,
which ships on April 23rd.
2) Howard Tate's Get It While You Can: The Complete Legendary Verve
Sessions, coming April 30th.
3) The Chess Work Shirt, available NOW!
You can pre-order the music, which will ship on the "release" date, and your
credit card will not be billed until the records ship, so feel free to order
early and often. We will be adding releases to the site with reckless
abandon soon, but please drop by any old time and poke around. There's lots
of what the gearheads call "content" to look at and hear, and the Town
Square message board is poised for you to post your comments on the site and
suggestions for future releases.
There's a lot of cool stuff in the pipeline, especially if you're a fan of
Classic Motown recordings and um, well, we'd better keep mum about the other
albums until they're ready to hatch.

We'll be back from time to time, but we promise not to clog your mailbox or
abuse your genial good nature.
