Although they don't exactly sound like Fountains Of Wayne, The Sneetches
come from a similar musical place and I think that most FOW fans would like
them quite a bit. For those of you who don't know The Sneetches, they were
a band from San Francisco who released several fine discs on Alias Records
in the late '80s and early '90s. My favorites are Sometimes That's All We
Have, (from 1989) Slow, (1990) and Blow Out The Sun, 1994. Though most
Sneetches tunes are a bit more laid-back than the crunchy power pop of FOW,
I think they apply (I remember when I first heard "Sick Day" by FOW, and
thinking it sounded a lot like The Sneetches). I think all of The Sneetches
discs are out of print (a quick look at Amazon confirms this belief), but
they can be found in used bins (the first two on LP or CD), and I'm sure
eBay as well.

Sadly, the band broke up not long after Blow Out The Sun, but I'm pretty
sure they did a reunion show at the Bay Pop festival a few years ago. Lead
vocalist Mike Levy also had a very pretty solo album, Fireflies, a few years
ago, and I was very proud to have him at IPO in 2001.

The Sneetches were definitely among my favorite bands of the past 15 years,
if not all-time.
