I feel your pain, Bryan...possibly moreso, because I DIDN'T switch from being a journalism major! When I was in college, the only internship I could get was one with RockFlash, a magazine which turned out to have the worst local reputation of all those dealing in the print medium...except I didn't know that at the time. As a result, though, I couldn't get arrested with any other local publications when I told them that the sum total of my journalism experience was working at RockFlash. And I once I got out of college, I couldn't afford to take an unpaid intership because I had bills to pay, so, well, that was kind of the closing of that window, I guess. I still do the freelance work, and I maintain the probable pipe dream that someday I might be able to obtain a full-time job that involves writing...but it ain't happened yet...
