Freelance writing, I'm sure you know, is completely
different from working on the staff of a newspaper
("journalism"), and often not only involves researching
and writing, but sending carefully-worded emails to
the Accounts Payable department when the check
they promised to send hasn't arrived when your
Editor said it would. I've contributed to the All Music
Guide (that ended in 2002), and have also written
(and been paid) by Launch, MusicBlitz.com, Music
Connection and a couple of others. I've also written
"free"lance for Big Takeover, Bucketful Of Brains,
Vendetta and a few others, and worked in Editorial
Production for a couple of record labels as a staff
liner note writer and/or editor. I'm still doing a few
liner notes on the side, even now, but most of this
work has dried up. I need a new gig (life), as a matter
of fact.
