I get a LITTLE dough on the side freelancing, but not about music anymore. I write about aviation history for things like "Flight Journal." Writing about music, I discovered, was a one-way ticket to living in your parents basement unless you wanted to be a relentless suck-up and spend most of your time scmoozing editors instead of actually focusing on the subject of your writing. Final straw: Gina Arnold had a steady gig, but Steve Stolder gets fired.
Now, I'm editor of Semiconductor Manufacturing Magazine. I take secret glee in sneaking in headlines like "AMD has Its Mojo Working, and They Thought You'd Like to Know."
