well,
perhaps in the post-VH1 world it isn't   ;-)

But personally speaking, when my good friend John first brought home the EMI 
"Anarchy In The UK" 45 from Britain, circa Christmas of 1976, there was 
absolutely NO sense upon first hearing it other than, "wow, this is a great, GREAT 
record. Maybe there IS hope after all!"

This was, admittedly, wayback before anyone in my sonic circle knew anything 
whatsoever about the Sex Pistols' extra-musical activities, Sid Vicious was 
still but a gleam in Malcolm McLaren's pocketbook, and the phrase "punk rock" 
was only ever equated with the original "Nuggets" elpee (...no, not even our 
beloved Ramones had the epitaph "punk" attached to them at that time) (round 
Toronto at least). 

Nevertheless, "Anarchy," and the remainder of the band's 76/77 output, still 
sounds damn good to me.  

PS:  and Nirvana does too!
